Capilano Eagles Membership

Welcome!
Since 1993, the Capilano Eagles have been recognized as a competitive running club that is open to all runners of all ages. Our club is approximately 50 members strong and is mostly made up of people who live on the North Shore of Vancouver. Our members include road, track, trail runners and triathletes. Our Tuesday night interval workouts start at the Delbrook Recreation Center in North Vancouver at 5:45 pm.  Our workouts are generally held on the streets in and around Edgemont Village.
Anyone is welcome to drop in and join in a workout at no cost. Please read further if you would like to become a member of the club.
The Capilano Eagles Running Club is a not-for-profit society registered in British Columbia. That means we spend any money we make throughout the year serving our members and supporting our community.
For our members, we provide a great opportunity to run with like-minded people, an annual club garment(optional) and, weekly training runs with a qualified coach.
For our community, we offer runners either an annual race organized by the club or assistance to other community running events.  Our club also supports deserving causes.  Tn the past , we have supported the Big Brother of Canada and the North Shore Search and Rescue.

In order to keep our dues low and the quality of our workouts high, we count on the volunteer participation of our members at the club run. We also count on members to help manage the club and its activities. As a Capilano Eagle, you will be encouraged to contribute to the club activities. Ask not what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club!

Benefits of Membership
Your $25.00 Capilano Eagles membership dues get you a group interval workout with an experienced coach just about every Tuesday evening from the start of January until the end of December. We have an online discussion group where club members can share accomplishments with one another. We get together from time to time socially at races, the Annual General Meeting of the club or a pub night. Of course, there is the opportunity to be a part of one of the most widely recognized running clubs in British Columbia! As a condition of Club Membership, a membership in BC Athletics is also required.

BC Athletics
Minimum membership in BC Athletics (BCA) starts at $15.75 per year for a "Training" member and ranges upward depending on the level of membership you choose. BCA is the provincial representative of Athletics Canada that oversees all amateur sports in Canada. Your BCA membership goes to providing the Capilano Eagles with insurance in case you are hurt while out running with the club. It also helps to promote amateur sports in BC. The different levels of BCA membership are clarified on the BCA web page and below.
BC Athletics requires that all members for a given year be registered by 31 December. Please help us to comply by joining the club in November or December. See registraion page.

Confirmation of Membership
You will be issued a BC Athletics membership card by BC Athletics. The cards are sent to the Capilano Eagles registrar roughly every four (4) weeks and distributed at the Tuesday night workouts.

Club Garment
Each year, we select a distinctive club garment for our members of record. Selection of the club garment generally starts in the fall with a survey to determine the type of garment our members would like. Recent club garments have included technical t-shirts, shorts and singlets. Cost of the garment will be determined by the type of the garment ordered for that year, and will be sold at cost to the club member.
The club garment cost is NOT included in the club fee. The garment will be optional and sold at cost.
