A Bit About The Eagles...

The "Eagles" began in the early 1990's as a regular gathering of several local residents with a passion for running. At the time, the North Shore lacked a club dedicated to the development and promotion of the sport of running. To fill this void, the Capilano Eagles Running Club was born. On February 4, 1992, the Capilano Eagles Running Club held its first official workout. The running log for that date records a workout consisting of "hill repeats" in the Pemberton Heights area. Since then, many more hills have been run, and many thousands of miles have been logged by an ever-growing number of Capilano Eagles.

The Eagles currently boast an active membership of approximately 50 members, ranging from 20 to 80 years young.

The club's main workout is held every Tuesday evening starting at 5:45. The meeting place is the Delbrook Recreation Center (south) located at 600 West Queens Road, North Vancouver. The workouts vary from week to week and are dependent on several factors including racing season, types of upcoming races, current goals of members, weather and daylight. Workouts range from short intervals on the track to longer tempo runs throughout the local neighbourhoods.

The Eagles are fortunate to receive exceptional coaching from our dedicated leader in athletic improvement, Ernie Gauvreau.
